China Three Gorges University (CTGU) is located in Yichang, Hubei Province, the location of the world-famous Three Gorges Project, the world's hydropower capital and China's famous tourist city. CTGU is a key university jointly funded by the Ministry of Water Resources and the People's Government of Hubei Province. It is also an excellent university in the Undergraduate Teaching evaluation of the Ministry of Education. CTGU is included in the second batch of "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program" and "National Top 50 Universities in Employment" by the Ministry of Education in Hubei province, with the right to grant bachelor's, master's and doctor's degrees. CTGU has become a comprehensive university with distinctive characteristics and advantages of water conservancy and electric power, strong comprehensive educational strength and a certain social reputation.
The College of Economics and Management of CTGU was established in May 2000 from the former School of Management of Wuhan Hydraulic and Electric University (Yichang) and the former School of Humanities of CTGU, majoring in business Administration and Tourism. Since its establishment, the school has made great progress in scientific research, talent training and social services by adhering to the motto of "Seeking" and the development strategy of "Dual Services" (serving local economic and social development and water conservancy and hydropower industry).
The college covers two disciplines: economics and management, includes four first-level disciplines: management science and engineering, business management, theoretical economics and applied economics. The college offers the doctoral program of Management Science and Engineering, the master programs of Management Science and Engineering, Business Administration and Applied Economics, professional master's degree programs of MBA, MPAcc and Master of Engineering (Logistics Engineering). The Management Science and Engineering is the key and characteristic discipline in Hubei Province. There are six departments: economics, finance, business administration, marketing and logistics, accounting, tourism management, and eight majors: international economy and trade, finance, business administration, human resource management, marketing, logistics management, financial management, tourism management. One modern economy and management experiment center and more than 30 industry-university-institute cooperation bases have been set up. There are two provincial key research bases of humanities and social sciences, namely Reservoir Migration Research Center and Three Gorges Culture and Economic and Social Development Research Center.
The college has more than 500 graduate students and more than 1900 undergraduate students. There are 102 full-time teachers, among them there are 15 professors, 49 associate professors, 55 doctoral-degree teachers. The college has also hired more than 20 domestic and foreign well-known experts as adjunct professors. It formulates and implements the staff training plan, organizes teachers to participate in high-quality course training, new teachers' career development and pre-job training every year. In recent years, the college has completed nearly 60 research projects of various types: the National Social Science Fund Project, the National Natural Fund Project, the Humanities and Social Science Project hosted by the Ministry of Education, the Social Science Fund Projects hosted by Hubei province, the Special Science and Technology Project of Three Gorges Project. The research funding for all vertical and horizontal projects amounts to over ten million yuan per year. More than 70 academic monographs were published and 200 research papers published per year and 15 scientific research achievements have won provincial and ministerial awards.
Since its establishment, the college has actively explored new measures and methods of talent training and adopted various effective measures to improve the quality of talent training. The students' comprehensive quality is excellent, and they have achieved good results in various national science and technology innovation competitions: the gold medals of "Challenge cup" Chinese College Students Business Plan Competition, Network and E-commerce Special Competition, the silver medal of "challenge cup" College Students Business Plan Competition for MBA Program, the first prize of the National College Students' Mathematical Modeling Competition, the National College Students English Competition, and Hubei Marketing Contest, the second prize of the National Accounting Case Competition, etc.
The college has always adhered to open education and actively carried out international cooperation and exchanges. It has established stable cooperative relations with relevant universities in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Australia, South Korea, Canada, Vietnam and other countries. Every year, dozens of students go abroad for study and exchange purposes.
The education scale of international students in the college continues to expand, and currently there are nearly fifty international students, coming from the United States, Congo, Gabon, Ethiopia, Cameroon, Liberia, Angola, Tanzania, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Laos and other countries. The college has formed a complete training system for international students for bachelor's degree (BBA), master's degree (MBA) and Doctor's degree (MS&E). The courses offered by our college aim to prepare international students for future careers in international enterprises, institutions or government departments, lay solid foundation for further study in the business administration and management science field. The training programs at all levels with English being the language of instruction have clear objectives which meet the characteristics and learning requirements of international students from all over the world.
